An expecting mother from a very poor family, having remained under pre-natal care/observation of UM Healthcare medical team, had developed very high blood pressure (250/140) in last hours of her delivery. The life of both the mother and child were in critical condition when UM Trust team referred her to District Head Quarter Hospital Mardan. Due to the lack of facilities at the District hospital, she was further referred to Lady Ready Hospital (LRH), Peshawar (65 km away) .
After she was just admitted, that hospital power system failed. This being a very delicate case, she had to be rushed to a third Hospital, Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar . She was admitted, examined, put under proper intensive care and the baby( a girl) was ultimately delivered by major operation. The mother’s condition however deteriorated. She was given several blood infusions and kept in intensive care for several days. With the grace of God she has survived and now in convalescence. The baby is fine.
Two lives of a very poor family are saved by timely move of UM medical team and then by so many doctors, Nurses and other staff with their dedication, skill and experience. Had UM Hospital not intervened, she would not have been transported to the city hospital and if its team leader had not taken her from one hospital to the other, she might have passed through a difficult time. UM Hospital at her door step (literally, just across the road is her home) has played a very vital catalytic role in this happy ending episode.
Lets work together for the cause of HUMANITY. Support UM Healthcare Trust.
